Binche fait partie de la r\u00e9gion du Centre. L\u2019extraction de la houille d\u00e9but\u00e9e en 1857 s\u2019y arr\u00eate en 1969 suivie par le d\u00e9clin de la sid\u00e9rurgie. La plupart de ceux qui particip\u00e8rent \u00e0 cette industrie sont aujourd\u2019hui morts d\u2019anthracosilicose. Le marasme \u00e9conomique qui a berc\u00e9 leurs descendants explique, par le tabagisme, l\u2019\u00e9thylisme, l\u2019ob\u00e9sit\u00e9 due \u00e0 l\u2019alimentation bon march\u00e9, que les affections cardiovasculaires fleurissent. De ce pass\u00e9 ouvrier, la solidarit\u00e9 demeure tr\u00e8s forte, entre autres entre les malades et les m\u00e9decins de famille.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

A la mort pr\u00e9matur\u00e9e de son mari, Marie de Hongrie s\u2019est vue confier la gouvernance des Pays-Bas par son fr\u00e8re, Charles-Quint (de 1531 \u00e0 1555). Au XII\u00e8me<\/sup> si\u00e8cle, les comtes du Hainaut avaient ceint la ville de fortifications dont une bonne partie persiste. Marie a fait construire un magnifique ch\u00e2teau \u00e0 la place du leur, au sommet de la colline, au c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la coll\u00e9giale (d\u00e9truit depuis par les fran\u00e7ais). Les f\u00eates qu\u2019elle y organisa en l\u2019honneur de son fr\u00e8re et de son neveu (1549) seraient \u00e0 l\u2019origine de l\u2019actuel Carnaval. Pour \u00eatre Gilles \u00e0 Binche, il faut y \u00eatre n\u00e9. Il n\u2019est pas permis de s\u2019exhiber en dehors de sa ville (ni en dehors du Mardi gras). L\u2019industrie drapi\u00e8re, la dentelle, a fait la renomm\u00e9e de Binche jusqu\u2019au XVIII\u00e8me. Les binchois aujourd\u2019hui (comme dans bien d\u2019autres contr\u00e9es) se serrent la ceinture toute l\u2019ann\u00e9e pour para\u00eetre magnifiques trois jours. Ils se re\u00e7oivent alors aux huitres et au champagne, se font accompagner par un tambour. Leur rituel est particuli\u00e8rement riche en symboles. La famille des Habsbourg continue \u00e0 manifester son attachement \u00e0 la ville en adoubant chevalier ceux qui\u00a0 ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 son rayonnement.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
